Let me introduce myself too! My name is Julia, ‘Yang2 Zhu2’ is my Chinese name. (Please call me Yang2 Zhu2, not Yang2 Zhu1, because ‘Zhu2’ is the bamboo, ‘Zhu1’ is the pig! I am ‘Zhu2’ bamboo, not ‘Zhu1’ pig, please pay attention to you tones!! Wink

Why I am called ‘bamboo’, is because I am from Sichuan, China, and there are a lot of bamboo in Sichuan, that’s why pandas are all from Sichuan. My parents gave me this name, because bamboo is the symbol of the Chinese people’s spirit – straight outside, (honest), hollow inside (modest), they want me to be a honest and modest person. I am trying! Cool

My am a Mandarin Lecturer at Link Chinese Academy, if you have any questions regarding learning Chinese or anything about China, please feel free to ask me, I would be happy to discuss with everybody! Smile

我是罗毅，是英国人，金斯顿出生了，现在是伦敦人。
我学中文五年多了，曾经在中国河南省教英语。现在在伦敦工作。
我很喜欢学语言，我的本族语是英语，除了中文以外能说斯瓦希里语和法语。

我的中文水平中级的，要来提所以我多读书，多听收音机，还有跟中国朋友保持联络。

Hello everyone
I am Luo Yi, I'm British, born in Hull but am a Londoner now.
I have studied Chinese for five years now, I once taught English in Henan Province and now work in London.
I very much enjoy studying languages, apart from English and Chinese, I speak Swahili and some French.
My Chinese level is intermediate, I want to improve it so I am doing more reading and listen to the radio as well as stay in touch with friends in China.
What's the secret of learning a language? Persistence, self-belief and not fearing the making of mistakes! A good student must also have curiosity.

Hi Changjinglu,

Your Chinese is really good! Let me correct your small mistakes here:

1. '金斯顿出生了', the '了' should not be there, otherwise people will think you where just born Laughing

' When you want to say you were born in somewhere, you can also say：我出生在金斯敦。but never put '了‘. because ’了‘there is to indicate the new sistuattions has just happend, not past tense.

2. '我的中文水平中级的': you forgot the verb, so it shoud be '我的中文水平是中级的’

That's it, only these two mistakes. By the way, the way you wrote : 学语言秘密是什么？ - 坚持，自信，别怕弄错误！好学生应该有好寄心。 ' is very nice!

因为长颈鹿个性沉着的，优美的。不要着急。
Because it is calm, graceful and doesn't get stressed.

I'm a chinese girl. My english name is julia, it's given by my foreign teacher when l was in the university. As an english teacher in china, i have never been abroad, not to speak of london. I felt very interesting at my first time to come here.
